Prayer for the Body
Grandfather open my eyes so I may see the glory of your creations. Grandfather open my nose so I may smell the sweetness of your fruits. Grandfather touch my heart so I may share your love with others. Grandfather allow me to taste justice as I quench my thirst. Grandfather open my ears so I may hear your wisdom. In these ways may my body on earth perform your will.
The enemy of Good Works is Comfort
Native people have a custom of presenting offering (gifts) to family, friends and even strangers. This has many roots, but the two mains are; to honor the presence of a guest or an achievement reached. The other is to discourage the accumulation of material belongings, to maintain purity of spirit.
With this purpose in mind, give something to the Creator that hurts. It does not have to be an extra $5, $20 or $100 dollars in the offering. Maybe it is some pride, invite that person whose dog irritates you to church or the Gathering. Maybe it is time, take a Saturday afternoon out of your busy week and invite the neighbor across the street for an afternoon B-B-Q.
The purpose is to do something out of your comfort zone for the Glory of Creator. Give Something That Hurts.
